The story began with Maria and Mark Whitehead, the founders of Hawkshead Relish, and their genuine wish of serving the best taste experience to their clients in their must visit café in Lake District Town.

In that perspective, they began crafting handmade chutneys to accompany meals and enhance flavour. After just a few batches, they experienced real success—encouraging them to keep developing their range and growing into the well-known brand they are today.

Over the past 25 years, Hawkshead Relish has evolved in a truly unique way. From just two products on their shelves, they now offer over 100 choices, shipping  worldwide.

The key to their success? A 100% handmade production using only premium-quality ingredients and traditional methods, combined with family passion and out-of-the-box creativity to create unexpected yet delicious blends.

Widely appreciated by customers, the brand has received over 60 Great Taste Awards throughout the years.

As Maria Whitehead puts it : “Flavour is the key ingredient using the best quality produce, if it doesn’t add flavour or texture, it doesn’t go in the jar!”

We have a long-standing relationship with Hawkshead, having collaborated on multiple successful projects and supplying them with a range of items including milk bottles, hexagonal jars and panelled jars.

This time, they approached us with a slightly different project—something bolder and more creative, placing design at the heart of the concept: a jar to celebrate the Christmas season.

Hawkshead wanted something festive, creative, and visually appealing. We needed to find a jar that was both functional and perfectly suited as a gift.

Using our extensive network of suppliers, our Oskar range, available in 106ml and 212ml, proved to be the ideal solution. This distinctive glass jar, fully recyclable, was a perfect way to elevate the festive table and mark special occasions!

The final result was a beautifully presented Christmas collection, launched in our elegant Flint Oskar Jars. These jars not only highlighted the premium nature of Hawkshead Relish’s products, but also enhanced the overall gifting experience.

As a family-run brand, Hawkshead wanted to create something special for the holiday season, that would catch the eye and elevate the contents. The jars were also included in a gift box set, pairing a chutney, a marmalade, and a sauce: the perfect trio for a festive dinner.
